ABOUT US

Our society constantly faces new crises and URGENT challenges. Beredskapslyftet is a non-profit organization that mobilizes the Swedish private sector in situations where we can make the greatest impact.

For each new and unique challenge, we create projects together with our network of partners that leverage the unique capabilities of businesses to contribute. With agility and a focus on making a real difference.

Our initiatives usually begin as pilot projects, testing the concept on a smaller scale, with funding primarily coming from the private sector. If the pilot project shows positive results, we scale it up, often with funding from multiple sources, including foundations and public entities such as the European Social Fund, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and the City of Stockholm.

Under our overarching strategy, our projects span a wide range focusing on four main objectives:

Preventing youth recruitment into a life of crime
Assisting people distant from the labor market in finding employment
Supporting Ukrainians in Sweden and providing critical aid to Ukraine
Responding to sudden crises in cases where businesses can make a significant impact

A VISION WITH A WIDE RANGE

Beredskapslyftet was founded in 2020 during the COVID pandemic when Oscar Stege Unger, from the Wallenberg Investments AB and board member of SAS, came up with the idea to support healthcare by using laid-off SAS personnel. He reached out to Fredrik Hillelson at Novare, who in turn contacted Johanna Adami at Sophiahemmet University.

A training program was created in which more than 300 people, primarily SAS personnel, were trained over a few months. They were then able to support healthcare services and relieve pressure on the Swedish healthcare system. Contacts were made with providers in elderly care, and more collaborators joined in:
Spotify contributed technical expertise, and Roschier provided legal knowledge, to name a few examples.

HOW IT STARTED

After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, when many Ukrainians fled to Sweden, we quickly mobilized our business network. One of the first initiatives was to create a job center, which has since helped more than 650 Ukrainians find employment. With support from the private sector, Beredskapslyftet has also launched an activity center for Ukrainian children in Sweden. In Ukraine, we are continuously training women to become truck drivers (to date, 300 women have completed their training).

CRIME-PREVENTION WITH RÄTT KURVA

Serious crime is on the rise and has quickly become a serious problem for our society. Together with the Police and Social Services in several Swedish municipalities, we are part of Rätt Kurva (The Right Curve), a crime prevention program modeled after one in Germany, aimed at preventing children aged 8-12 from entering a criminal lifestyle.

The role of Beredskapslyftet is to mobilize the business community and civil society to coordinate the support that children need to break their criminal path, but which the municipality cannot provide for various reasons. The program acts proactively by creating conditions and opening new paths away from crime by engaging the children's families and quickly organizing jobs and leisure activities.
